From 15 November 2024, an exposition of 20th century history called Places of Breakthroughs: The Heritage of Memory of the Moravian-Silesian Region, will be officially opened in our national cultural heritage museum FUTUREUM in the Lower Vítkovice area under the auspices of the Institute of Memory of the Nation Ostrava.
The exposition will present the rich history of Ostrava and the region in the 20th century through authentic stories of witnesses, which were filmed by documentary filmmakers of Memory of the Nation in a studio in Ostrava. The dramatic fates of local people have shaped our past and continue to influence our present.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to delve into the stories of political prisoners and a courageous Jewish girl who hid from the Nazi regime for six years. They will discover the life paths of war veterans or a woman who did not hesitate to risk her life by joining the anti-Nazi resistance in the Beskydy Mountains. Two stories will bring to light the fascinating and challenging work of miners and mine rescuers. A short Czech-Polish film will shed light on the changing borders of Těšín Silesia and the impact of the decision on nationality on the fate of families and the entire region.
The ticket price is 120,00 CZK for adults, 90,00 CZK for a reduced ticket, and 360,00 CZK for a family ticket.
