The Urban Area Planning Studio’s (MAPPA) podcast features interviews with inspiring guests about the city and living in it. The interview features Antonín Šimčík, one of the people behind the transformation of the industrial monument into Ostrava’s new creative centre.
“From the beginning, we communicated with the representatives of the conservation authorities and together we defined what to protect and what not to protect,” says the historian, who headed the Silesian Museum and participated in the creation of a branch of the National Museum of Agriculture in Ostrava. “We were able to repair the outer shell with contemporary technologies and then exert all the more energy to preserve the authentic interiors,” he adds.
